The paper deals with the principles which define the word order in the attributive group. The research revealed that the attributes are distributed according to a classifying principle, intrinsically intertwined with characteristics that are relevant for a speaker, i. e. the importance of the particular word class for a speaker. The experimental data obtained through the Russian National Corpus and speeches of Russian politicians showed that the more important the class of words, the closer the adjective is located to the noun. The novelty is caused by the fact that the author uses an innovative linguistic experiment based on the Google search which helps to identify cultural features of the Russian and English native speakers related to the word order in attributive groups. Moreover, the paper analyzes translation solutions as regards written Russianto-English translation, in particular, which attributives translators tend to omit / preserve. As a result, a strategy for the written Russian-to-English translation is proposed.
