This study focuses on English terminological dictionaries (based on reference books of linguistic terms). The significance of the study lies in the comprehensive analysis of linguistic terminology dictionaries, the identification of their basic categories and the examination of their mega- , macro- and microstructure features. The following groups of reference books of linguistic terms are distinguished: general and specialized. The analysis shows that the microstructure includes definitions, illustrative examples and a number of labels: pronunciation, grammatical, regional and etymological. Moreover, in some cases, a graphic image serves as an additional device of a vocabulary unit semantization. The author concludes that, despite the popularity of Internet technologies in the modern world, including lexicographic practice, one can observe the coexistence of various formats of linguistic terms dictionaries: printed, online and e-book format. It is noted that the user of the 21st century becomes an active participant in the lexicographic work, whose needs and demands play a crucial role in the process of creating dictionaries. It is emphasized that the primary audience of dictionaries of linguistic terminology includes professional groups of users: students of language faculties, teachers and philologists doing scientific research in the field of linguistics.
