The article examines the concept of homo tolerans as a heuristically significant anthropological paradigm that has fallen out of the focus of contemporary philosophical anthropology. The authors analyze the categorical discourse surrounding tolerance, noting the variations in its interpretation — ranging from its equation with mere forbearance to its association with inclusivity and passivity. The evolution of the concept is traced: from homo tolerans to homo patiens, homo ignorans, and homo resistens. Particular attention is paid to the risks and threats associated with the radicalization of tolerance. The philosophical analysis of homo tolerans is conducted within the framework of a systems approach. Its constituent concepts — patience as a fundamental existential characteristic, non-violence, and self-restraint — are identified. The essential traits of the homo tolerans mindset are highlighted: cognitive openness, conservative normativity, a dialogic nature, and the acceptance of uncertainty. In conclusion, homo tolerans is viewed as an ambivalent sociocultural type that defines the face of modern civilization; it can serve as both a guarantor of security and a source of risk when it transcends ethological constraints.
