Readers are invited to get acquainted with several fragments of letters from Ivanovo State University professor C.D. Avdeeva, addressed to N.V. Revyakina. The letters date back to the beginning of 1980 — the end of 1981, to the time when K.D. Avdeeva just arrived from Leningrad to Ivanovo and began her activities at the university. The letters provide insight into the difficulties K.D. Avdeeva faced, at a provincial university, how she tried to organize the educational process in a new way, what new courses she was thinking about. Some episodes of letters provide an opportunity to see the inner life of the Faculty of History in the early 80s of the last century, the clash of different positions and interests. The most important thing that should be said is that letters allow us to restore the psychological portrait of their author, a purposeful, decisive, active person. The letters’ publication is timed to coincide with the anniversary of Ivanovo State
University, which is celebrated in 2024, as well as the upcoming centenary of the birth of Claudia Dmitrievna Avdeeva (1925—1995).
