The article analyzes Judeo-Christian relations in the late Antique Clermont and their reflection in foreign historiography. The life of the late Antique Clermont, including the interaction of Jews and Christians, is relatively well documented, which is why historians are particularly interested in this topic. Historians pay special attention to the most memorable event in the context of Judeo-Christian relations in Clermont – the conflict of 576, which is described by Gregory of Tours in «The History of the Franks» and Fenantius Fortunatus in one of his poems. The interpretation of this event, as well as of Judeo-Christian relations
in general, has undergone a number of changes during the study. Historians moved away from the one-sided perception of the history of the Jews as a chain of tragedies, drew attention to peaceful interaction, the position of the authors of the sources, the rhetorical goals they pursued, and, in general, the bias of sources of Christian origin towards Jews.
