The author of the article focuses on the ontological theory of B.N. Chicherin. The synthetic position of the thinker is revealed, who claims that religion, philosophy and sciences are identical in their ultimate goal and represent a person’s going beyond the border of the animal world to the absolute law of the universe. It is shown that a person in this paradigm has an innate need to explain the world, when exactly religious beliefs satisfy his cognitive need. The views of B.N. Chicherin on the phenomenon of human morality based on a sense of confidence in the existence of absolute justice, which is an indirect proof of the existence of the Absolute, are analyzed. It is revealed that the uniqueness of the philosophical views of B.N. Chicherin is based on the synthesis of rational percep-tion and religious faith as the only possible explanation for the phenomena of the individual and the state. It is concluded that in the theory of B.N. Chicherin, the centuriesold dispute about the relationship between faith and reason was resolved in the absolute mutual complementarity of these mental practices of understanding the world. It is recorded that B.N. Chicherin created a theory, the scale of which embraced the ontology of the entire spiritual world, which, evolving, is striving towards a common goal — the Absolute.
