Trends in the modern world economy have prompted economists to call for the construction of an «economy of wisdom» or a «society of wisdom,» but there was no systematically elaborated concept of wisdom in the philosophical literature. The purpose of this study is to identify and summarize the manifestations of wisdom in economic activity. In the course of the study, the main situations associated with a lack of wisdom in economic activity were identified, guidelines for wise behavior in them were formulated. The dependence of economic decisions on the peculiarities of society's culture is shown, from which it was concluded that in order for wisdom in economic activity to increase, it is necessary to educate comprehensively developed personalities focused on the priority of the interests of the whole society. It was suggested that economic wisdom should be understood not as some perfect, final knowledge, but as a tool that includes those attitudes of thinking that contribute to the never-ending movement towards optimality. The study revealed the most important among them: foresight, widening the gaze, avoiding extremes, searching for the «golden mean», balance and the right prioritization. At the same time, the most important guideline for optimal solutions is considered universal human interests, understood taking into account the prospects for human development.
