The article discusses the main stages of studying the issues of national historical science related to the trusting of the textile industry of the Upper Volga economic region of the USSR. The emphasis is placed on the study of literature devoted to the trusts of Ivanovo-Voznesenskaya province and IIR, since it was in these territories that the main potential of the textile industry of the region was located. The disproportion between the study of the experience of enterprises and associations of the textile industry of the region and the study of the industrialization process of the USSR as a whole is noted. The literature related to the study of the problem is analyzed in chronological order. The main works of domestic and foreign researchers are considered. Two groups of studies have been identified: general and special. The works related to the study of the economic history of the USSR, the reconstruction period and the industrialization of the USSR are classified as general. The nature of special works are scientific-journalistic essays and scientific research related to local history in general, and to the problem under study in particular. These works are analyzed from the point of view of the personal interest of their authors, as well as their sources and methodological base. The advantages and disadvantages of each group of research papers on the stated topic are noted, and a number of scientific papers are compared with each other. The conclusion is made about the fragmentary nature of the literature on the topic under study, as well as general trends and patterns in the development of the study of the declared topic during the XX—XXI centuries.
