The interpretation of discourse aims at creating a mechanism that combines all significant elements of the text into a single explanatory structure. In this study, discourse is considered as a set of logical-semantical relations that can be described using a metalanguage. The purpose of the study is an attempt to prove that the automatization of discourse using the Theory of Rhetorical Structure provides effective assistance in translating a text from/into a foreign language. In this study, algorithmic models for the original texts of song discourse and their translations based on two methods are presented: the rhetorical structures method and the formal paraphrase explication method. With the help of the created models, a discourse analysis of the translations in terms of checking their coherence and interpretative adequacy is completed, and a comparative rhetorical and logical analysis of the original texts and their translations are carried out. Two songs are selected for the analysis: “Kentucky rain” by E. Rabbit and D. Heard, written in 1970 for Elvis Presley, and “The Roschin´s Song” by N. Dorizo and N. Bogoslovsky, the soundtrack for the Soviet movie “Different destinies”, The relevance of this work lies in the fact that it presents for the first time an algorithmic rhetorical onnections of song discourse model, necessary for a comparative analysis of both the original texts and their equivalents made in the process of translation.
