The subject of study in this article is the taxis functions of German reverbalizable deverbatives of various lexical and derivational semantics, implemented by them in a certain syntagmatic context, provided they are combined with various temporal prepositions. The scientific novelty of this work is determined by the fact that it considers the taxis potential of deverbatives involved in the actualization of the meanings of simultaneity, precedence and following. Taxis functions of German deverbatives (potential / realized, absolute / relative) are realized on the condition that these names retain the verbogenic (verbal) semantics inherited from the verbs that produce them, and the property of reverbalizability. When used with the temporal prepositions bei, in, nach, seit, vor, etc., they act as actualizers of various taxis meanings — simultaneity, precedence, following. In the course of the study, it was found that actional, static and procedural deverbatives in -en are characterized by absolute “taxic potencies”, and other affixal names, in particular, names in -ung, -e, -t of procedural, actional and event semantics, as well as event affixless deverbatives are characterized by relative “taxis potencies”. Their reverbalization is possible provided that they preserve the argument structure of generating verbs and involve additional lexical means.
