The article is devoted to the phenomenon of historical consciousness. The target audience is young teachers and students. It is shown that the key role in revealing the semantic content of the concept of historical consciousness belongs to philosophy. It is fixed that philosophical analysis involves the transition from the study of historical consciousness as a holistic formation to its study at the more specific levels (personal, group). It has been established that it is philosophy as an educational discipline that opens up the prospects for seeing traditional problems for the individual as a subject of history. The article denotes positions, the coverage of which is a methodologically verified by pedagogical experience way of studying the phenomenon of historical consciousness. The authors refer the problem of truth and verity to the main problems of historic-philosophical reflection; personality behavior as a manifestation of historical consciousness; alternative history; sources of formation of assessments of the world of history; the problem of historical memory. It is concluded that it is important to consider specific issues of the formation of historical consciousness both in the historical context (past, present, foreseeable future) and in the space of a holistic culture.
