The article is devoted to the analysis of the cognitive-semiotic aspects of the Russian bear image existence in the system of modern Russian symbolic politics. The subject field and structure of political eco-semiotics are determined, its theoretical and methodological novelty is presented. The coordinates of the images ecosystem of the political semiosphere of Russia, including phyto- , zoo- , and anthropo- images, are outlined. The forms and methods of marking the bearishness are revealed, the specificity of the bear metaphor as a zoomorphic symbol is revealed, its advantages as a generalizing image-concept for public consciousness are recorded its place and role in the sphere of political production are determined. An understanding of the Russian bear image as a dynamic sum of meanings and values, as well as a basic code of the explanatory model of the semiotics of modern international relations is proposed.
