This article deals with the question of the ontological foundations of art, which still remains open to debate. A comparative characteristic of the stages of creating a work of art is given. The article analyzes the structure of a work of fine art in order to determine its most essential components. The question of the significance of such an aesthetic category as “beautiful” in the formation of ontological foundations of artistic creativity is revealed. The author investigates the main stages of creating a work of art by the author and its subsequent perception by the viewer.
It is shown that the ontological basis of a work of fine art is a materialized author’s subjective reality and is formed as a result of the coordinated work of the sensory-emotional and abstract-discursive levels of consciousness. The role of the author's will as a tool for forming the figurative structure of the work and materializing the author's idea is particularly emphasized.
