Prokhorova T. G. Transformation of Marburg's image in B. Pasternak's autobiographical story “Safety Protection Certificate”

The article explores the principles of creating the image of Marburg in the autobiographical prose of B. Pasternak “Safety Protection Certificate” (1931), reveals the features of the artist's interpretation of real life impressions. The author of the article, relying theoretically on the work of the Bulgarian philosopher and aestheticist K. Goranov “Artistic image and its historical life” (Moscow, 1970), considers the image not as a ready-made structure, but as a dynamic system. The article proves that in “Safety Protection Certificate” Marburg appears as “imageperception”, “image-process”, “image-work”, which determines its constant transformation. The real Marburg opens to the autobiographical (lyrical) hero either as a city of dreams, or as a fairy tale or mystery embodied in reality, or as a space of history and culture, or he becomes a co-participant in the drama of love or passion for science. These transformations of the city’s image of are determined by the philosophical and aesthetic framework characteristic of Pasternak, which was largely formed under the influence of the Marburg school of philosophy.
