The article attempts to comprehend the poetics of L. Dobychin through methodological correlation with the art of photography. Using the example of L. Dobychin’s short prose, the general compositional and semantic structure of the text is considered. Some aspects of the poetics of L. Dobychin’s texts can be correlated with the basic philosophical principles that form the photographic art. The discreteness of the composition and the implicitness of the artistic images forming the text detract from the reader’s perception and actualize the need for slow, thoughtful reading. However, outside of a certain methodological principal that allows to comprehensively describe and explain the uniqueness of L. Dobychin’s style, the reader’s experience may remain superficial. As such a methodological installation, the principle of a photograph can act, capable of capturing things in their static state, devoid of the potential for dynamic development. This principle applies both to the compositional structure of L. Dobychin’s short prose and to the subject-object models forming its semantic, internal structure. Despite the ambiguity of the interpretations to which this methodological comparison leads, it can still partially explain the uniqueness of L. Dobychin’s poetics.
