The article is devoted to the actual and large-scale project “One Belt and One Road”, implemented from 2013 to 2019. in Eurasia. The article reflects the main areas of cooperation between the two countries participating in the project, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The prospects for cooperation are described and the problems of the implementation of this project are reflected. During the implementation of the project, not only areas of mutually beneficial cooperation were outlined, but also problems in the implementation of this initiative appeared. The purpose of the article is to analyze the cooperation relations in the project of the Chinese initiative “One Belt and One Road”, which have taken one of the central places in the public discussion. The study was carried out using the provisions of the theory of critical geopolitics and focused on the analysis of the discourse of expert communities. According to the author, this allows not only to establish how the Beijing initiative is perceived among the states that are its potential participants, but also to draw cer-tain conclusions about the prospects and problems of its implementation, since at this stage of development of the One Belt and One Road political decisions in countries neighboring China are largely determined by interpretations coming from the expert community. The author draws attention to the fact that the countries of Central Asia are actively promoting cooperation with China in various areas such as trade, investment, production capacity and finance. The author comes to the conclusion that there are some misunderstandings in cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and China as the initiator of the project, as many doubt China’s intentions. The problem of mismatch of economic resources between countries is also obvious. The author believes that China should make more efforts to strengthen mutual trust between countries.
