Khvylovyi was an excellent writer and an ancestor of new ukrainian prose, he also was an organizer of Ukrainian Renaissance. The search for ways of full value literature’s development threw into creating The Libre Academy of Proletarian Literature, which Khvylovyi’s philosophical-aesthetic outlooks were in base of programme performed in the literary discussion in the articles and pamphlets gathered in the books of 1925—26: «Kamo Gryadeshi», «The Ideas Against the Stream», «Apologists scribbling», «About the Necessity of Cultural Revolution». The pamphlets fundamental ideas were the following: the unacceptability of the thesis about class character of culture and bringing down art to the role of an ideological service of the party and state politics; the unacceptability of massovism; the basis of romantic vitaism as a style of new art; the conditionality of the ukrainian culture development its geographical disposition between Europe and Asia and the creation theory of Asian renaissance; choice as a pattern of Europe’s literatures (but not russian) – were grasped as «the ideas against the stream». The writer was blamed of nationalism. Khvylovyi was struck out from the soviet literary process in spite of his undoubted merits in the Ukrainian literature and culture. The investigation of his creative heritage began in the end of 1980th. The critic’s interpretation of Khvylovyi’s philosophical-aesthetic position is not lit upon well enough and objectively in the literary criticism due to serious ideological reasons. The interest to Khvylovyi’s aesthetic conception become stronger, the work about its separate aspects (the theories of the Asian renaissance and romantic vitaism) appeared, but mainly the authors of works analyzed the realization of theoretical principles in Khvylovyi’s and his contemporaries artistic practice.
