Isakovа L.V. Тhe revolutionary wanderings of F.V. Taranovsky as an example of the fate of a representative of the russian intelligentsia in 1917—1920 (to mark the 150th anniversary of the scientist's birth)

The article is devoted to the study of the personal life, teaching, social and political work of the law historian, Professor Fyodor Vasilyevich Taranovsky in the period
from 1917 to 1920. The chronological framework of the study is determined by the need to consider the biography of the scientist in a difficult historical period — the time of the revolution and the civil war in Russia. Based on the use of archival materials, namely Taranovsky's letters to his friend, the trustee of the Riga Educational District, V.E. Grabar, and the memoirs of his colleague at the Kiev Academy of Sciences, mechanic S.P. Timoshenko, an important stage of the scientist's life was reconstructed. The conclusions of the study suggest that the fate of Fyodor Vasilyevich, filled with life troubles and economic problems, is
a classic example of the fate of a representative of the Russian intelligentsia of this time. It is the analysis of Taranovsky's life and work in 1917—1920 that allows us to answer the question of why he, like many other representatives of the Russian scientific elite of the early twentieth century, was forced to leave his homeland.
