The article is devoted to the analysis of changes in the semantics of adjectives involved in the conceptualization of scientific and professional knowledge. The author focuses on the secondary meanings of adjectives related to coloronyms (white, black, blue, gray, red, green) in languages for special purposes. The commonality of the meanings of these adjectives in nominative phrases representing special knowledge in different fields is revealed, and variants of their semantic interpretation are considered. Special attention is paid to the new meanings of adjectives in the Russian language in recent decades, including those that have arisen in connection with global economic and political processes. It is argued that the active use of adjectives-coloronyms in languages for special purposes for the conceptualization of scientific and professional knowledge is one of the trends of the modern language. The secondary meanings of adjectives of the considered variety reflect the results of the interaction of structures of everyday and special knowledge, cognitive mechanisms of semantic development of words of common use in the fields of professional communication are realized.
