The article is devoted to the semiotic analysis of the concept «image» in the symbolic policy of the international relations. The essence of the contemporary
international relations is revealed through the concept of eidomakhia. The hypothesis of a new — strictly semiotic — turn of the Cold War is proposed. The meaning of the security culture in the framework of semiotic discourse is stressed. The semiology of the image (including the image of the enemy) is described in the modern international symbolic politics through the semiotic invasion and semiotic slip phenomena. The features of the semiotic chronotope of the international relations symbolic policy are revealed. The concepts of cognitive resistance and cognitive security are clarified in this context.
