The article discusses the importance of humanities in the context of two educational paradigms — the classical and modern. Some aspects of the ideological
conflict between classical pedagogical thought and ideas of postmodern pedagogy are revealed. The influence of postmodernism on the formation of a new educational paradigm is shown, and the prospects for the development of humanities in modern conditions are affected.
