Repeatedly researched and analyzed in the scholarly works, the short story “Rusya” receives different interpretations of the content and meanings embedded in it, due to the social demands of the time, factors of ideological and biographical plans, and differences in aspects of philological analysis proper. These approaches allow us to consider the story a phenomenon of Russian culture. The analysis of the communicative behavior of the characters in the story is aimed at an objective interpretation of the main heroes’ characters, an understanding of their relationships, the author's view of the story told, as well as the meaning hidden in it.
The communicative behavior of a person is conditioned by the traditions of communication characteristic for a certain ethnic group. It is based on the communicative situation, the age of the communicants, the gender component, etc. In a work of fiction, communicative behavior is represented through a word or a turn of speech chosen by the hero or the author himself. At the same time, the writer equally pays attention to the non-verbal component of communication.
