Suvorova N.V. Names of the Christian holiday of the Assumption of the Pre-Holy Virgin in Russian and Polish (linguistic and cultural aspect)

This article describes the Russian and Polish names of the Christian holiday of the Assumption Day. In order to identify the linguistic and cultural specificity of these
names, the article analyzes the semantics and structure of the official and unofficial (folk) names of the holiday, which include a religious component. By comparing the Russian and Polish names, the article reveals similarities in the mechanism of naming the official names of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which is related to the religious unity of the two nations (their adherence to Christianity). The main motivational features that form these formations indicate the person to whom the commemorative date is dedicated, as well as the event centered on the Virgin Mary. However, the differences in religious affiliation (Russian Orthodoxy and
Polish Catholicism) have led to variations in the internal form of the lexemes that represent the different meanings associated with the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
