Reshetov E.A. The struggle of RSFSR/USSR diplomats for recognition the Soviet state by Sweden in 1920—1924

The article examines the little-studied history of the establishment of official Soviet-Swedish diplomatic relations in 1924. Special attention is paid to the efforts made by officials of the RSFSR/USSR to establish relations with the Kingdom of Sweden, starting in 1920. The role of Soviet diplomats M.M. Litvinov, P.M. Kerzhentsev, and N. Osinsky (V.V. Obolensky) in this process is noted. The obstacles to the bilateral dialogue are highlighted. The dynamics and stages of the change in the position of the Swedish ruling elite on the issue of de jure recognition of the RSFSR/USSR during the years 1920—1924 are shown. In particular, the change in the views of the leaders of the influential Swedish Social Democratic Party in the kingdom, led by K.J. Branting. The article is partly based on archival materials, which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
