The concept of «indigenous villager» is normally used in dialectology and dialect lexicography, which are focused on describing the characteristics of territorial dialects. The speech of individual speakers of the dialect is described for the same purposes within the framework of dialect lexicography as well. In recent years, the circle of people whose language is becoming the object of lexicographic description within the framework of author‘s lexicography has significantly expanded. Among such personalities are ordinary native speakers, including villagers. The article proposes to clarify the content of the concept «indigenous villager» in relation to dialect dictionaries and author‘s dictionaries dedicated to the description of the language of a particular person. It is pointed out that there is a significant difference in the purpose and target settings of these types of dictionaries, which affects the choice of informants, the definition of the object of description and the methods of lexicographic development of linguistic material.
